50 Cent Reacts To NYC Mayor Eric Adams Being Indicted Amid Corruption Probe

50 Cent has responded to the indictment of New York City Mayor Eric Adams following a federal investigation into corruption allegations involving him and his associates. Details of the charges against Adams, who became mayor in 2021, are still unclear, but federal prosecutors are expected to provide more information on Thursday (September 26). According to The New York Times, the indictment involves allegations that Adams and his campaign collaborated with the Turkish government to receive illegal foreign contributions. Adams, a Democrat, is the first sitting New York City mayor to face criminal charges. While Adams has denied any wrongdoing, 50 Cent, a New York native, shared his thoughts on the situation. He took to Instagram to post a picture of the mayor, captioning it: “Oh shit, [shocked emoji] what the fvck did you do, Eric? I’ve never seen a sitting mayor of NY get indicted.” Adams has vowed to contest the charges, declaring in a public address on Wednesday (September 25): “I will fight these injustices with every ounce of my strength and spirit. I am innocent.” He also responded to calls for his resignation, saying, “If I am charged, many might say I should resign because I can’t manage the city while facing these allegations. I understand why everyday New Yorkers would be concerned, but I’ve been facing these lies for months... and the city has continued to improve. Make no mistake, you elected me to lead this city, and I will do just that.” Earlier this year, in a now-deleted Instagram post, 50 Cent criticized Adams’ proposal to provide pre-paid debit cards to migrants, saying, “WTF mayor Adams, call my phone. I don’t understand how this works—somebody explain.” He then expressed support for controversial presidential candidate Donald Trump: “Can’t explain this. I’m stuck; maybe TRUMP is the answer.” 50 later revealed that Adams had reached out to him to clarify the situation. He stated, “I talked to @nycmayor Eric Adams; he explained why this pilot program was implemented. He seemed on point and in control.” He also mentioned wanting to discuss with Governor Kathy Hochul the laws hindering Adams’ ability to improve conditions in New York and questioned where the proposed $2.4 billion for migrants was coming from: “NOT MY TAXES!” Adams admitted to seeking 50 Cent’s endorsement during a press conference, saying, “I told 50 Cent to contact me. I would love to explain it to him so he can tweet, ‘You know what? Eric is just a smart manager, and now we understand why he was elected to be the mayor of this city.’”
