Beyoncé Goes 0 For 17 At People's Choice Country Awards As Snubs Continue
Beyoncé continues to face recognition challenges in the country music awards circuit, finishing without any wins at the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards, despite being nominated 17 times for her successful album, *Cowboy Carter*. The event took place on September 26, where Bey was nominated for an impressive number of awards, all determined by fan voting held from August 13 to August 23. Despite her numerous nominations, she did not secure any wins. However, artist Shaboozey, who collaborated with her on *Cowboy Carter*, acknowledged her in his acceptance speech, praising her as “amazing.” Since its March release, *Cowboy Carter* has achieved significant success, debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 with 407,000 equivalent album units sold in its first week—at that time, the biggest sales week of 2024, although it has since been surpassed by Taylor Swift's latest album. Of the album's 27 tracks, 23 made it onto the Billboard Hot 100, bringing Beyoncé's total to 106 songs on the chart. She is now the 17th artist and the third woman to reach over 100 entries since the Hot 100 began in 1958. Despite this success, she also did not receive any nominations for the 2024 Country Music Awards. Her father attributed this to racial factors, while Dolly Parton shared her thoughts in a recent Variety interview. Parton noted, “There are so many talented country artists that the music industry likely felt they couldn't overlook.” She admitted she was surprised to learn that Beyoncé had not been nominated but praised the album and expressed that the country music community appreciated her contributions. Parton added that she believed the lack of nominations wasn't a deliberate snub but rather a reflection of the country music scene focusing on artists who regularly contribute to the genre. Beyoncé covered Parton’s classic “Jolene” on *Cowboy Carter*, and Dolly expressed interest in possibly collaborating on a duet. As of now, Beyoncé has not publicly addressed the snubs.
